Falling in Love With Where You Are
This blog (and the new book!) are based on my approach to Greatness. I've already shared one of the important themes - that Greatness Is.
But here's another central theme of Living Into Your Greatness -- Falling in love with where you are.
It's not just about knowing where you are and accepting it, it's about falling in love with it. That's where profits, passion, and possibility live. That's where we all live.
Here's one of my favorite poems of all time. Let me know what you think.
The Opening of Eyes
That day I saw beneath dark clouds
the passing light over the water
and I heard the voice of the world speak out,
I knew then, as I had before
life is no passing memory of what has been
nor the remaining pages in a great book
waiting to be read.
It is the opening of eyes long closed.
It is the vision of far off things
seen for the silence they hold.
It is the heart after years
of secret conversing
speaking out loud in the clear air.
It is Moses in the desert
fallen to his knees before the lit bush.
It is the man throwing away his shoes
as if to enter heaven
and finding himself astonished,
opened at last,
fallen in love with solid ground.

I have no words for the impact this poem had as you read it to me. I do not want to find the words either! Just savor the experience-the tears I felt were those of a coming home after a long, weary journey.
" The opening of eyes long closed"-is my favorite line!
"...remember who you are"
-King Mufasa to Prince Simba in The Lion King
"Everbody is called though not everybody is listening"
-Maryanne Williamson
"Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer"
-Rainer Maria Riike (I had too Kim!)

This is my first time checking out the blog and I wish I could say something that doesn't come from scarcity but I dont have the vocabulary yet (Elizabeth?!)...ooh, how I've been missing out. If only I had enough time. I just hope that I can find it somewhere!
Seriously now, the poem is awesome. "falling to his knees as if in love with the ground..." (paraphrased, I'm sure). I get that and want it again. The passion of a child towards everything. Like Elizabeth, I'll leave it at that. MAN!!!
