So many of you have been asking me what I think of the phenomena around the movie The Secret. Since being featured on Oprah, it seems the whole world is talking about the Law of Attraction (LOA). Here’s what I think:
Any time we have the opportunity to raise the collective consciousness of the world, it’s a good thing.
Sure, there’s a backlash about LOA already. You’ve gotta’ expect this. People seem to automatically distrust things that are “new”, that can’t be seen with the eyes or heard or felt in a tangible way.
For human beings, it seems so much easier to doubt our limits than believe in our greatness.
It’s the same with The Secret. I liked the movie.
And it left me wanting more.
More practical, tangible tools. More how-to’s. More than just “here’s how you visualize that Ferrari you want and attract it into your life.” I couldn’t help thinking about the Illusion of Hope.
Hope is the dark side of positive thinking when it keeps us waiting and putting off what we can do today. Hope is a source of scarcity when we are passive, disengaged from who we are and the world around us.
And that’s exactly why I wrote Coaching Into Greatness, and created the concept of Abundance Intelligence® . Because people want more than just a feel good. They want a pathway, a process, a method that they can use right now, TODAY.
At the end of the day, what good is a warm, fuzzy feeling unless it helps us be and live who we are?
